Spring in Paris, 2005

We arrived yesterday afternoon and checked into our lodgings at Hotel Le LaVoisier. We headed out to try and stay awake and adjust to the time zone.  We stopped in at a boulangerie/café and had a café au lait and shared a tarte de framboise, oh so yummy.  The weather is nice, sunny on and off with a breeze and kind of cloudy.  We walked along the Champs D’Elysees, across  the Seine, back over to the Jardin des Tuileries,  and then over to Place de Madeleine where we stopped in at one of our favorite stores, Fauchon, and bought some yummy treats for my mom. Slept well that night after staying up all day and got up the next morning to a wonderful Parisian breakfast served in our hotel: coffee, orange juice, yogurt, croissants, baguette. After being well nourished we headed out on the metro to the Musee de Luxembourg where we enjoyed a presentation of art work by Matisse. Afternoon arrived and I was in need of some shoe shopping. Shoe styles here are always fascinating to me.  There are so many small stores and the window displays are fun to look at, like a work of art.  They are showing lots of flat shoes with beads, flat shoes in tons of colors, high heels with wedge soles and kind of espadrille styling, along with the usual pointy, round toy, a new kind of hooked upward flat front toe and all kinds of sport style shoes.  The clothing trends are:  Indian style flowing tops with lots of beads and colors, and also lots of really long, flowing, flouncy kinds of skirts. I enjoy wandering around with Dave, we chat about all kinds of different things, hold hands and remember why we like each other.
