in the Jardin du Luxembourg
I can hardly believe my eyes –
four of you
ensconced upon your marble bench
emitting laughter and joy
through your sculpted presence.
My heart skipping a beat
as I laugh out loud with you.
Giddily enjoying one another’s company,
sitting about in your robes
sharing a spa day,
simply being,
delighting in each others presence.
The sculptor wove her magic
with you,
and I pause to wonder,
‘Who are you?’
Your kinship and love of life
evidenced through your posture,
and facial expressions,
giddy with the delight of this moment,
this life.
Such wonder in art,
the marble stone
conveying the very life
of you.
