Anne Lamott

I like Anne Lamott:  how she writes, stuff she thinks about, just a bunch of stuff. I’ve been having a hard time recently with some things in life and came across something that she wrote: “Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work, and you don’t give up.” I came upon this today in a spiritual reflection book, “The Cup of our Life” by Joyce Rupp. I  like it. It helps me with walking into my own ‘stuff’ of brokenness and hurts in my life.

Almost 2 years after writing this post I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Ann Lamott in person. She was speaking and doing a book signing at Third Place Books, located in the Lake Forest Park Towne Center, right by my house. I met up with a few other friends and we had such a wonderful time listening to her speak and then getting to meet her afterward.
